Help
The questions every calculator shares, answered once. For anything about your health, read the safety information and talk to a healthcare professional.
Using the calculators
Is this medical advice?
No. The calculators do arithmetic on times, and the tracker records what you enter. Neither knows anything about your health or can tell you whether fasting, or a fast of a given length, is suitable for you. Talk to a healthcare professional before you start, and read the safety information.
What happens when the clocks change?
A fast is measured in real hours. On the night the clocks go back, a 16-hour fast that starts at 8:00 PM ends at 11:00 AM by the clock, not at noon. The calculators and the tracker both count real hours, and the calculators mark any fast that has a clock change inside it.
What does Start this fast do?
It opens the tracker with the calculator's schedule filled in and shows you what it will do. Nothing is saved until you confirm there.
Which fast lengths can I plan?
Any whole number of hours from 1 to 72. The tracker asks you to confirm the safety information before it saves a fast longer than 36 hours, and does not schedule fasts longer than 72 hours.
The tracker and your data
Where is my data kept?
In your browser's storage on the device you are using. There is no account: it is not sent to ADF Chronicles, and it is not shared between your devices. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.
How do I keep a copy, or move to a new phone?
In the tracker, open Profile and choose Download a backup. On the new device, open the tracker and choose Restore from a backup with that file.
Does it work without a connection?
Yes, once you have opened it while online. You can also add it to your phone's home screen from the browser's menu.
What can I record besides fasts?
Weights on any day, with an optional height for BMI, one weight goal, and a fasting journal for hunger, energy, mood and notes during a fast. Weight and BMI can be hidden entirely if you would rather not see them.
About ADF Chronicles
Who makes ADF Chronicles?
It is an independent project. The About page says more about it, how the health information is written and sourced, and how to report a mistake.
How do I report a mistake or ask a question?
Email support@adfchronicles.com with the page and what looks wrong. We cannot give personal medical advice.
