A weekly 36-hour schedule
Tying a 36-hour fast to fixed weekdays keeps it in the same place every week: for example, every Monday evening to Wednesday morning. The days in between are ordinary eating days.
One day a week gives one fast a week. Two days, such as Monday and Thursday, give two. The schedule above lists six fasts for the days you choose.
A 36-hour fast is a long fast and is not suitable for everyone. Please read the safety information before planning one.
Questions
How is this different from alternate-day fasting?
Alternate-day fasting repeats every two days, so the fasting days move through the week. A weekly 36-hour schedule keeps the fasts on the same weekdays, with more eating days between them.
Which days can I combine?
Any days with at least two days between starts, so that one fast has ended, with time to eat, before the next begins. The calculator tells you if the days you pick are too close.
What happens when the clocks change?
A fast is measured in real hours. On the night the clocks go back, a 16-hour fast that starts at 8:00 PM ends at 11:00 AM by the clock, not at noon. The calculator and the tracker both count real hours, and the calculator marks any fast that has a clock change inside it.
Is this medical advice?
No. The calculator does arithmetic on times. It knows nothing about your health and cannot tell you whether fasting, or a fast of this length, is suitable for you. Talk to a healthcare professional before you start, and read the safety information.
